Anatomical drawings by da
Vinci set for London exhibition
10/02/2012
The largest exhibition ever of Leonardo
da Vinci’s incredible anatomical drawings is to be hosted by
The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace this summer.
Running from 4 May – 8 October, the
display will focus on some of his brilliantly accurate
drawings of human and animal material created whilst working
in hospitals and medical schools, which helped to
revolutionise the understanding of human anatomy.
Regarded by many as the greatest artist
of all time whose genius captured the Renaissance humanist
ideal, da Vinci is perhaps best known for his paintings of
the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and The Vitruvian Man, though
these represent a fraction of his overall contribution to
artistic and scientific fields.
His indescribable talent transcended
advanced art and science to levels arguably not seen since
and historians still yearn for further information from one
of the most enigmatic, important figures to have lived.
Should you be staying in any of the
excellent hostels in London
this summer, be sure to check out this informative, exciting
exhibition.
