Capital to Welcome Poetry Festival
A poet from every competing Olympic
nation will have the chance to participate in a huge poetry
festival which is accompanying the Olympic Games.
More than 5,000 nominations were
received from around the world, with the selected poets
eligible to read and perform at the Poetry Parnassus
festival, held at the Southbank centre from 26 June to 1
July.
Visitors to the festival can
participate in workshops and take part in a special gala
event with the selected poets, taking in various tips and
lessons from across the world.
Translations will be available
throughout the festival, for those who want listen to and
understand the vast cultural differences between the
plethora of nations taking part.
Names of the lucky entrants will be
revealed in February. Why not sample this spectacular
