Thames procession planned for Diamond Jubilee
Plans have been mapped out by organisers for a 1,000
boat flotilla representing Britain’s maritime heritage,
which will journey down the Thames to mark the Diamond
Jubilee.
Aptly named the Thames Diamond Jubilee
Pageant, it will make its winding, seven mile procession on
Sunday 3 June and will include Dunkirk little ships,
historic vessels, steam boats and tug boats. These will
flank a royal barge, which will be at the centre of the
parade and seat the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
The celebrations will be accompanied by
music, with barges dedicated to hosting the premiere of
specially commissioned musical numbers constructed by ten
film composers, including Downton Abbey’s John Lunn,
inspired by Handel’s Water Music.
Overall, the flotilla will support
20,000 people on water and will travel under 14 bridges
whilst led by a hand built, 88-foot rowbarge named Gloriana.
An event not to be missed, make sure

Breakfast locations dotted around the city, for what is
shaping up to be an exciting summer for Great Britain.
