Shire horses create giant
Olympic rings in Richmond Park
11/07/2012
A set of giant Olympic rings have been
carved into the façade of Richmond Park, as excitement
continues to build regarding the impending return of the
greatest event on earth.
In keeping with the heritage of the
park, the giant Olympic rings have been mowed into the
ground by Parks’ shire horses, which have been working on
the grounds of London’s largest park since 1637. With the
structure 300m wide and 135m tall, they have become the
largest Olympic rings to be found anywhere on the British
Isles. Visible from air, they are sure to offer a fantastic
welcome for the millions of international visitors expected
to flock to the capital to watch the action.
Playing host to a section of the
cycling road
race, dense crowds are expected to head to Richmond Park to
cheer on the participants. If you happen to be staying in
any of the
London hostels during the Olympic period, why not
discover and admire the giant Olympic rings yourself?
