16 manual ramps unveiled for
London Underground stations
14/06/2012
The London Underground have taken more huge steps into
providing better accessibility during the Olympic Games,
after more manual ramps have been rolled at 16 stations
across the vast network.
The 16 ramps, operated by members of
staff on demand, are in addition to the 66 stations which
have already implemented step-free access, in efforts to
help create the most accessible Olympic Games ever. Whilst
they only are scheduled to be in operation during the Games,
there are also calls for them to have a permanent presence,
especially at stations such as Stratford which are
notoriously difficult to access for wheelchair users.
It comes after news that Virgin Media
are to add wireless internet access to a number of key
stations across the network, further enhancing the
experience of the London underground for the millions of
visitors expected to flock to capital this summer. It could
be great news for any of those staying in any of the
London bed and breakfast locations, meaning getting
around the city is set to be easier than ever before!
