Exciting details have been released regarding the opening
ceremony of the London 2012 Games on 27 July.
The Olympic Stadium, which has become a
stunning addition to the famous London skyline, will be
transformed into the ‘British countryside’ and will be
called ‘Green and Pleasant’, artistic director Danny Boyle
has confirmed.
Meadows, fields and rivers are to from
prominent parts of the set, whilst families taking picnics,
farmers working on the soil and a village green hosting
friendly games of sport are to help create ‘a picture of
ourselves as a nation’, according to the man charged with
one of the most important events of the British summer.
Lord Sebastian Coe, who chairs the
Organising Committee Locog, said: ‘I'm sure [it] will be a
fantastic celebration that will welcome the 10,500 athletes
from around the world and make our nation proud.’
The show is expected to last three
hours and will begin at 21:00 BST. Tickets are still
available for the ceremony, although they are expensive.
Alternatively, book one of the stunning
London bed and breakfast residences for a vibrant and
highly entertaining experience in the capital whilst the
Olympics take place.
