Dance 2012 this summer
10/02/2012
Be prepared to dance the day away in
the capital when the Big Dance 2012 hits the city this
summer, an event forming part of the London 2012 Festival.
Running from 7 July – 15 July at
locations all around London, the Big Dance is regarded by
many as the world’s biggest and most influential dance
initiative which accommodates those of all ages and
abilities, attracting two million people last year alone.
It will be coordinated by five of
London’s leading dance organisations, with East London
Dance, the English National Ballet, Greenwich Dance,
Sadler’s Wells and the Siobhan Davies Centre all
contributing toward the organisation of a fun festival
drenched in dance-related events.
A highlight of the celebrations will be
Wayne McGregor’s Big Dance in Trafalgar Square, where a mass
performance by 2000 dancers will be led by the resident
choreographer of The Royal Ballet Wayne McGregor, embracing
the abilities of various dance groups, dancers and
choreographers from wide ranging, diverse backgrounds.
Should you be staying in any
cheap London accommodation this summer, be sure to take
to the streets and take part in or witness a startling
dancing spectacle
