London's theatres buzzing
despite the cold (economic) climate
03/02/2012
London’s theatres have revealed record
level revenues for an eight consecutive year, taking over
£500 million in the last 12 months. Despite the economic
climate, ticket sales are on the rise.
London’s theatre’s success had been
wrongly attributed to new musicals like Matilda the Musical,
The Wizard of Oz and Shrek the Musical amongst others, which no
doubt drew in the crowds, but these productions also left
the stage empty for several months during their
installations. In fact, it appears plays like Frankenstein,
Much Ado About Nothing and One Man Two Guvnors were the sources
of rising attendance and revenues.
It seems theatre goers still value a
trip to some of the world’s best shows. Why not join the
crowds and book a special night out in theatreland coupled
with some cheap accommodation in
London.
