Tate Britain secures funding
for major renovation

The Tate Britain has announced it is has secured funding
worth £45m, enabling the prestigious gallery to conduct a
series of major renovations to enhance the public
experience.
Among the
new arrivals will be a spiral staircase in the gallery's
atrium, a new café and floor reinforcements in several
rooms, allowing them to house even more beautiful sculptures
than before.
The
sizeable sum was reached thanks to a number of contributors,
including a staggering £4.9m from the lottery foundation and
a donation of over £1m from Tate members. The remaining
funds are believed to have been collected from numerous
charitable foundations and private investors. The completed
renovations are expected to take up to 12 months to
complete, with the proposals set to come into force in 2013.
The oldest
within the Tate Gallery network, the public gallery is
renowned as one of the premier landmarks in London. If you
