The Lion King extends its West
End run into 2013
03/05/2012
It's been confirmed that the spectacular production
of the Lion King is not leaving the West End just yet,
extending its booking period through to 2013.
The show has been hugely popular on the
capital's theatre strip, enthralling legions of spectators
since its debut way back in October 1999. It is currently
the ninth longest serving musical on the West End, with over
9 million people estimated to have seen the show during its
lengthy tenure.
An adaptation on the incredible Disney
motion picture, it follows the story of the young lion
prince Simba, next in line to the throne much to the
annoyance of his evil uncle Scar. After Scar plots to kill
king Mufasa and Simba, the young cub flees the kingdom, only
to return with unlikely friends Timone and Pumba to take
back his rightful crown.
With the production now showing at the
Lyecum theatre until 6 Jan 2013, there's plenty of
opportunity for any of those booked into one of the
London hostels to experience the magic for themselves.
