Your booking
How do I pay?
We take full payment on booking, but this is partially refundable in certain circumstances. Our booking system is powered by RBS WorldPay and will accept Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro and Solo. Unfortunately we do not accept America Express, JCB or Diners.
How do I cancel or change my booking?

Our cancellation and modification policy depends on how you made your booking.

 

All bookings made directly with LSE via telephone, e-mail and through the English language version of www.lsevacations.co.uk are subject to our standard terms and conditions which are available here. In short, if you cancel with more than 72 hours notice we will refund you everything except the first night  modifications will incur a £5 modification fee.  To cancel or change your booking please contact the vacations office on vacations@lse.ac.uk

 

Bookings made via other language versions of www.lsevacations.co.uk or through third party booking agencies and websites are subject to different terms. These will be made available at the point of booking. To cancel or change these bookings please refer to your confirmation.

Do you offer a student discount?
This varies from time to time, however we are not currently offering any student discount.

LSE staff, students and alumni are entitled to a 10% discount on our public rates. In order to secure the discount you must book through the dedicated LSE booking system or by phone. Please contact us for more information or follow the links from the benefits section of Houghton Street Online.  You will need your LSE ID number in order to make a booking.

LSE students should book term time accommodation through the LSE Accommodation Office.

LSE Staff, Visiting Academics etc. can book Staff Accommodation online at LSE Staff Accommodation.

Do you offer a long stay discount?
Yes! we offer a 10% discount on all stays of 29 nights or more. This discount can not be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount.

During summer we also run a special scheme to provide accommodation to people undertaking internships and work placements. See internship accommodation for further information.

What is your refund policy?
All bookings made directly with LSE directly by telephone, e-mail and through the English language version of www.lsevacations.co.uk are subject to standard terms and conditions which are available here. Full payment is required on booking but this is partially refundable in certain circumstances. If you cancel with more than 72 hours notice we shall refund your payment less the cost of the first night.  If you cancel less than 72 hours in advance no refund will be made.

Bookings made via other language versions of www.lsevacations.co.uk or through third party booking agencies and websites are subject to different terms, which will be made available at the point of booking.

The rooms
Are bed linen and towels provided?
Yes, bed linen and towels are provided for guests and changed regularly.
How often are rooms cleaned and linen changed?
Housekeeping schedules vary between residences but the housekeeping team will attend your room at least once every three days during the week. Linen is changed at least once a week.
Can you smoke in the rooms?
No. LSE has a no smoking policy throughout all its buildings. Smoking within our buildings is in contravention of UK Law and our booking terms and conditions.
Is there a telephone in the room?
During your stay, people can contact you via a direct dial line.  The switchboard number is +44 (0)844 550 6666.  Your own extension can be found on the telephone in your room. Calls to this number are charged at 5p per minute from a BT landline. Calls from mobiles and other telecoms operators especially those overseas may be higher. Please check with your provider for details of their charges

Some residences also have coin operated public pay phones available.

Please note that due to a problem with our telephone supplier we have had to suspended the sale of phone cards. As a result external calls can not be made from telephones within bedrooms.

What facilities do the rooms provide? (i.e. no TV, has wash basin)
All rooms are equipped with a bed, desk, wardrobe. Rooms with shared bathrooms also have a mirror and hand basin in the room (except Bankside House where standard rooms only share the bathroom with one other room). En-suite rooms usually have a shower, toilet, mirror and hand basin. Studios and apartments at Grosvenor House also boast a kitchenette and eating area.

Is there air-conditioning?
Rooms do not have air-conditioning. Due to health and safety legislation, window restrictors are in place in some buildings to limit the extent to which a window will open.
Do you have rooms suitable for wheelchair users?
We have adapted rooms available at Bankside House, Grosvenor House, Northumberland House, Passfield Hall and Rosebery Hall.

These rooms are designed for wheelchair users and have an adapted en-suite bathroom. The buildings and common facilities are also accessible to wheelchair users. Bankside House also offers parking with dedicated wheelchair user bays. For more details of the room types available please check the individual residences pages and hover your mouse over the wheelchair icon.

Rooms and Bankside House and Grosvenor House can be booked online (look for accessible in the room description). Rooms at Northumberland House, Passfield Hall and Rosebery Hall should be booked directly with the residence by phone, details are available on our contacts page

We would advise guests to contact the residence directly so that we can ensure we are prepared for your arrival.
The properties
Is there car parking on-site?
Most of the residences do not offer on site parking.

Bankside House offers guest car parking for a small charge. Monday - Friday: Daytime parking is £10.00, overnight parking £10.00 and 24 hours £20.00. Saturday & Sunday: Daytime parking is £5.00, overnight parking £5.00 and 24 hours £10.00.
Parking is offered on a first come, first served basis and cannot be booked in advance. Guests bringing vehicles to Bankside must notify reception staff as to the details and registration number of their vehicle to avoid being clamped.

It should also be noted that London operates a 'Congestion Charge' of £10 per day for vehicles entering the centre of the capital during peak hours. For more information please visit www.cclondon.com.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check in is from 3pm at all residences. Guests arriving after 9pm should notify the residence in advance. Please see the contacts page of this site for further contact information. Occasionally we have to delay check in, a list of dates where late check in has become necessary can be found here.

Check out is at 10:30 am at all residences.

Can I leave my bags if I arrive early or need to leave London late?
Yes, bags can be left at most residences prior to check in. Space at some residences is limited but we will do our best to help. Please note luggage is left at the owner's risk and we would not recommend leaving any valuables.

We regret we are unable to store items overnight.
Is there 24hr access?
Yes, guests are given a security access card or key and can come and go as they please. We have no curfew policy.
What kitchen facilities are there?

Grosvenor House - each studio has a space-saving kitchen unit including a Microwave/Oven/Grill Combi plus a fridge and mini jug kettle. Utensils, pots, pans etc. are provided.

High Holborn - the residence is divided into flats of 4-5 rooms each sharing a kitchen, toilet and shower. Kitchens contain fridge/freezer, electric cooker and oven, cupboard space and pots pans and kitchen utensils and kettle.

Northumberland House - there are several kitchens on each floor for guest use. Kitchens contain fridge/freezer, electric cooker and oven, cupboard space and pots pans and kitchen utensils and kettle.

Passfield, Rosebery and Carr-Saunders have small kitchens available for guests to use. These are suitable for making small snacks, tea etc. The hall does not supply crockery, cutlery, utensils etc.

Bankside does not offer kitchen facilities to guests, however tea and coffee making facilities are provided in each room.

Are you buildings suitable for wheelchair users?

With the exception of Carr-Saunders and High Holborn Halls our residences are accessible for wheelchair users. For more details on the rooms available click here.

What internet provision do you provide?

Communal Pay-As-You-Go internet terminals are available in certain residences. At present we are unable to provide internet access within our bedrooms. The exception to this is Passfield Hall which offers a  Pay-As-You-Go Wi-Fi service throughout the building.

Meals
What time is breakfast served and what does it include?

Breakfast is generally served from 7.30 am - 10.00 am during the vacation periods, though timings do differ slightly from residence to residence, particularly at weekends where times may be later.

Guests at Bankside, Rosebery, Passfield and Carr-Saunders  who have booked bed & breakfast have a choice of English (Bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms etc) or continental (Juice, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, cheese, meat and toast) breakfasts*

 

Guests at Grosvenor House and High Holborn who have booked bed & breakfast have a choice from a continental buffet (Juice, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, cheese, meat and toast) at High Holborn*

 

 

Breakfast is not served at  Northumberland House which offers self-catering kitchens.

Guests who have made a Room only booking may purchase breakfast each day for £6.50.

*Please note these lists are intended as a guide to what is likely to be offered by the residences for breakfast. They do not guarantee that any such item will be offered on a given day.

Do you provide lunch and dinner?
Dinner and lunch can be provided at Bankside House, Carr-Saunders Hall, Passfield Hall and Rosebery Hall at additional cost for sufficiently large groups. Please contact your destination residence for further details.
